Baseball Falls In Midweek Match Against Hofstra

Conrad, Casamento, Rodriguez Record Two RBIs Each


POUGHKEEPSIE, New York- The Marist baseball team dropped its midweek game against Hofstra 8-6, Wednesday afternoon. Three Red Foxes recorded two RBIs each in the game against the Pride.

 
Summary
  • Hofstra opened up the scoring for the game in the top of the third taking a 1-0 lead.
  • At the top of the fourth Marist took Chris Ubner off the mound and put in Andrew Fierro.
  • After a few pitches, Nicholas Buchman replaced Fierro on the mound with a runner on first and no outs.
  • Hofstra capitilzied on these pitching changes increasing their lead to 3-0 heading into the back half of the fourth.
  • Marist began their response to Hofstra's lead cutting it to 3-1 at the end of the fourth.
    • Austin Bohlman got the bats going for the red foxes with a single to right field to start the bottom of the fourth.
    • Kyle Pollack hit a bloop single over the second baseman advancing Bohlman to second..
    • Bayram Hot loaded the bases with a one-out walk.
    • Cole Casamento sac flied a ball to right field causing Austin Bohlman to score cutting the lead to 3-1.
  • In the top of the fifth, Buchman was replaced by Lance Koenig with runners at the corners and 2 outs.
  • In the top half of the fifth Hofstra increased their lead to 7-1.
  • In the bottom of the fifth Marist cut into the Hofstra lead making it 7-2.
  • Ethan Conrad launched one over the right field wall for a solo home run.
  • Marist put up some runs of their own in the back half of the sixth inning making the Pride's lead just 7-4.
    • Kyle Pollack opened the hitting up in the bottom of the sixth for the Red Foxes with a single to right.
    • Bayram Hot kept the hitting going advancing Pollack to third with a double to left field
    • Cole Casemento's sac fly brought Pollack home
    • Brady Steinert singled to left but Hot got tagged at home plate trying to score from second.
    •  Dylan Millman hit a grounder single through the center advancing Steinert to third.
    • Ethan Conrad kept the Red Foxes alive with two outs hitting a bouncing single to third Steinert scored and Millman advanced to second.
  • At the top of the seventh with one out and a runner on first, Koenig got replaced by Ty Morris on the mound.
  • The Pride brought their lead to 8-4.
  •  Marist made it a game after scoring two runs with two outs in the bottom of the eighth bringing the score to 8-6.
    • Dylan Millman got to first with a 2 out walk to start the bottom of the eighth for the Red Foxes.
    • Ethan Conrad then hit a single to centerfield advancing Millman to second.
    • Lewis Rodriguez hits a two out single through the middle to bring Millman and Conrad both home.
  • Brian Yetter took the mound for the Red Foxes to start the top of the ninth inning and held Hofstra scoreless for the inning
  •  In the bottom of the ninth Cole Casamento got onto first with a single over the shortstops glove.
  • Despite late game efforts the Red Foxes ultimately fell to the Hofstra Pride 8-6.

  • The Red Foxes tallied six runs on 14 hits in the midweek game.
  • Ethan Conrad went 3-3 in the game with two RBIs.
  • Lewis Rodriguez and Cole Casamento recorded two RBIs each in the game.
