Baseball Captures Series Against Manhattan

Conrad Led the Team in Runs, Hits, and RBIs

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York— The Marist baseball team won their series against Manhattan on Sunday. The Red Foxes split a doubleheader yesterday but were able to come out on top in the series finale 8-6. Marist is now 14-24 on the season and 7-8 in MAAC play.

 

Summary
  • The Red Foxes came out strong with a five-run first inning taking the early lead 5-0 .
  • After a scoreless second inning on both sides, Manhattan scored their first run of the day in the top of the third off a sac fly. Marist still led 5-1.
  • Marist continued to propel with a two-run home run by Ethan Conrad in the bottom of the third, making the score 7-1.
  • In the top of the fourth, Manhattan tallied two runs before Will Taylor took over the mound for Nate Chudy. Manhattan would go on to score one more run on the side making it 7-3 Marist.
  • In the bottom of the fourth, an RBI by Ethan Conrad extended the Red Fox lead 8-3.
  • In the sixth, Manhattan put another run on the board. Marist still led 8-4.
  • Riley Orr began pitching in the top of the eighth before Manhattan added two more runs narrowing Marist's lead 8-6.
  • In the top of the ninth, three back-to-back outs including two strikeouts would retire the match with Marist coming out on top 8-6.
