HAMDEN, CT- The Marist baseball team came up short in its weekend series opener against Quinnipiac on the road, 12-4, Friday afternoon.
Kyle Pollack led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, while
Jason Claiborn and
Chris Diaz drove in a run apiece.
The Red Foxes moved to 7-12 overall on the 2025 season and 4-3 in MAAC play with the loss.
- The Red Foxes struck first for two runs in the the opening frame behind a two-run triple from Pollack to push ahead 2-0
- Quinnipiac responded with eight runs in the third inning to take an 8-2 lead
- The Bobcats added a run in the fourth and two in the sixth to extend their lead to 11-2
- Diaz drove in a run in the eighth on a sac-fly to trim the deficit to 11-3
- Trailing 12-3, Claiborn mashed a solo homer to right to cut the deficit to 12-4
- The Red Foxes scored four runs on eight hits in the loss
- Claiborn and Pollack tallied two hits apiece
- Claiborn homered, while Pollack recorded a triple
- AJ Brotz drew two walks in the loss
- The Red Foxes will be back in action on Saturday at 1 p.m. for game two of the series
