2014-15: MAAC Swimmer of the Week (1/28), MAAC Champion - 50- and 100-Yard Freestyle... Became the MAAC Champion in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 45.49 seconds, the third fastest mark in program history... Also won the 50-yard freestyle in 20.63 seconds... Member of the first place 400-yard freestyle relay (3:00.69) and second place 400-yard medley relay (3:22.99) squads at the MAAC Championships... Placed eighth in the 50-yard freestyle (20.72 seconds) and ninth in the 100-yard freestyle (45.57 seconds) at the ECAC Championships... Member of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that placed second at the ECAC Championships (3:01.21)... Competed in the 200-yard freestyle at the MAAC and ECAC Championships.
2013-14: Took third place at the ECAC Championships in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 45.56 seconds.... Finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.61 seconds at the same meet... At Boston College, Marist claimed a time of 3:12.52 in the 400 freestyle relay to take first place. The relay consisted of Spitzer, Alex Lombardi, Caleb Camp and Jason Ruddy.
2012-13: At the MAAC Championships, was part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that took second place... Also finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle... At ECACs, finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay with teammates Nicholas Spinella, Spencer Kelley and Tyler Ferraro with a time of 1:24:13… Finished 10th in the 50-yard freestyle "B” final… Finished sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay with teammates Jason Ruddy, Spencer Kelley and Nicholas Spinella.
2011-12: At the 2012 MAAC Championships, swam to a third place finish in his first-ever championship final, the 50-yard freestyle (21.08 seconds), after qualifying via an eighth place swim-off in the prelims... Earned a fourth place finish in the 100-yard freestyle at 46.74 seconds... Participated in the 200-yard freestyle and finished in 1:47.78... In relay action, he swam with the second place 200-yard freestyle (1:23.52), fourth place 200-yard medley (1:34.50), and fifth place 400-yard medley (3:26.70) and freestyle (3:06.09) teams.
At the ECAC Championships, he missed qualifying for the 50-yard freestyle Consolation Finals by .23 seconds at 21.59 seconds... Swam the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events at 47.85 seconds and 1:48.48, respectively... Competed with the sixth place 200-yard freestyle relay (1:24.81), seventh place 400-yard freestyle relay (3:07.33), seventh place 400-yard medley relay (3:26.68) and eighth place 200-yard medley (1:34.98) relay squads.
Prior to Marist: A Central New York native, Spitzer participated in four events at the 2011 NYSPHSAA Championship finals: the 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle relay, and 400-yard freestyle relay. Spitzer won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle titles at the Section V Class A meet in 2011.
