2015-16: 2x MAAC Swimmer of the Week (1/20, 2/3), MAAC All-Academic Team... Placed first in three events at the H2ounds Invtiational: the 200- (1:41.71), 500- (4:30.25) and 1,650-yard freestyle (15:50.15)... Won the 200-yard freestyle all three times he competed in the event during the regular season... Was the MAAC Champion in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:13.58. Also finished second in the 500- (4:26.27) and 1,650-yard (15:42.20) events... Anchored four relay teams at the MAAC Championships: the third place 200-yard freestyle, second place 400-yard freestyle, second place 800-yard freestyle, and third place 400-yard medley squads.
2014-15: MAAC Swimmer of the Week (1/21), MAAC Champion - 1,000-Yard Freestyle and 1,650-Yard Freestyle... Broke his own school record in the 500-yard freestyle at the H2ounds Invitational on Dec. 5 with a time of 4:28.06... Finished third in the 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard butterfly vs. Fairfield... Won the 1,650-yard freestyle at the H2ounds Invitational (16:06.02)... Won the 1,000- (9:07.38) and 1,650-yard (15:30.67) freestyle events on each of the final two days of the MAAC Championships... Placed second in the 200- (1:37.49) and 500-yard (4:26.31) freestyle events at the MAAC Championships... Member of the second place 800-yard freestyle (6:40.09) and first place 400-yard freestyle (3:00.69) teams at the MAAC Championships... Finished second at the ECAC Championships in the 100-yard freestyle (45.65 seconds) with the fourth fastest time in program history... Placed second in the 1,650-yard freestyle (15:31.25) at the ECAC Championships... Also at ECACs, finished fourth in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events... Member of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that placed second at the ECAC Championships (3:01.21)... Finished in the top five in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle every time he competed in the events... Never placed lower than second the seven times he competed in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
2013-14: Won the 500- (4:45.70) and 1,000 yard freestyle (9:43.52) in his first collegiate meet vs. Canisius... Swept the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:42.47 against Boston College... Placed first in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.42) and 500-yard freestyle (1:56.78) against Seton Hall. Posted a second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:10.09)... Finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (4:30.66), fourth in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:25.31) and fifth in the 1,650-yard freestyle (15:58.09) at the MAAC Championships... At the ECAC Championships, swam to a ninth place time of 4:31.89 in the 500-yard freestyle. Also competed in the 200- (1:41.73) and 1,650-yard (16:15.08) events.
Prior to Marist: Murphy joins the Red Foxes as a YMCA All-American and two-time Connecticut All-State recipient. The 2012 Connecticut State Open Champion in the 500-yard freestyle, Murphy swam his way to All-American status as a member of the Regional YMCA Western Connecticut (RYWC) Makos in 2013 by placing 12th at the same distance. Interscholastically, at New Fairfield High School, Murphy left as a record holder of four individual marks and three relays.
