2017-18: MAAC All-Academic Team...Placed fourth in the 1650-yard freestyle (17:25.07), fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.01) and sixth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:02.08) at MAAC Championships...Came in third in the 200-yard freestyle at the H2ounds Invitational and helped lead the 800-yard freestyle relay to a first place win...Notched a third place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle against Rider.
2016-17: MAAC All-Academic Team... Finished in first place in the 500- and 1000-yard freestyle in a regular season matchup against Southern Connecticut State on Jan. 10... Competed in three events at the MAAC Championships, the 500-, 1000-, and 1650-yard freestyle, finishing in fourth, second, and third, respectively... Competed in four events at the ECAC Championships, finishing seventh in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.06), eighth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:02.46), and seventh in the 1650-yard freestyle (17:29.44).
2015-16: Won the 1,000-yard freestyle vs. Fairfield in 10:56.87... Placed second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.45) at the H2ounds Invitational... Competed in three freestyle events at the MAAC Championships, placing second at 1,000 yards (10:19.10) and fourth at 500 (5:02.22) and 1,650 yards (17:16.67)... Placed ninth in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:17.76) at the ECAC Championships.
2014-15: During her freshman season, Newton placed second in the both 500- (5:19.54) and 1,000-yard freestyle against Rider (10:49.70)... Her highest finish in the MAAC Championships came during the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:27.85... She also placed fourth in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:32.77) while competing at the ECAC Championships.
Prior to Marist: Newton joins the Red Foxes as a four-year varsity athlete at Northport High School, where she was named senior captain, and an eight-year member of the Suffolk Swim Club. With the Suffolk Swim Club, she was a sectionals qualifier in the 100-, 200-, and 500-yard freestyle as well as the 200-yard individual medley. She received the team's Most Improved Award two years in a row. With the Northport Varsity Swim Team, Newton holds the record in the 100-, 200-, and 500-yard freestyle, the 100-yard backstroke, the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relay, and the 200-yard medley relay. She was Suffolk County All-County and All-League for three years and was also a New York State qualifier and finalist.
