Marist Record Book: 100-Yard Butterfly (49.42 seconds), 200-Yard Medley Relay (1:31.53), 400-Yard Medley Relay (3:22.58)
2016-17: MAAC All-Academic Team, CoSIDA Academic All-District... Competed in seven events at the ECAC Championships including several relay events... Finished in the top 10 in four events at the ECAC Championships, including the 200-yard freestyle relay (seventh) and 400-yard freestyle relay (sixth)... Competed in three events at the MAAC Championships, earning a silver medal in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly... Was a member of a 400-yard medley relay group that broke a school record with a time of 3:22.58 at the MAAC Championships.
2015-2016: Won the 50-yard freestyle vs. Fairfield (22.79 seconds)... Took first place in the 100-yard butterfly vs. Boston College (51.75 seconds) and at Binghamton (52.36 seconds)... Finished second in the 100-yard butterfly in a school record time of 49.42 seconds and placed fourth at 200 yards (1:51.81) at the MAAC Championships. Also participated in a swim off for the final spot in the 50-yard freestyle event... Swam on the second place 400- (3:03.51) and 800-yard freestyle relay (6:41.14) squads at the MAAC Championships... Became just the second Marist swimmer ever and the program's first male swimmer to earn an invitation an Olympic qualifier meet. Garcia finished the 100-meter butterfly in 56.13 seconds at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Long Course Invitational on Feb. 25... Placed 10th in the 100- (49.43 seconds) and 200-yard (1:51.80) butterfly and competed in the 50-yard freestyle at the ECAC Championships.
Prior to Marist: Garcia joins the Red Foxes after two years swimming for MAAC rival Saint Peter’s College. While with the Peacocks, he swam in the 100-yard freestyle at the 2014 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships and competed in three events at the 2015 MAAC Championships: the 50-yard freestyle and 100- and 200-yard butterfly. He was a team captain his junior and senior years of high school. At the end of his high school career he held 23 swimming records and 10 city swimming records. He was a finalist for the Mexican National team from 2011-13, ranking fourth in the nation in the butterfly in 2012.
