POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist College Department of Athletics honored the members of its Class of 2007 Wednesday evening at the Annual Senior Awards Dinner, held at Christos Restaurant in Poughkeepsie. The Red Foxes recognized each senior student-athlete, as well as naming women's basketball's Keith Detelj (Sayville, N.Y.) and men's basketball's Jared Jordan (Hartford, Conn.) as the 2007 Sportspersons of the Year.

Kresge helped lead Marist to its first-ever appearance in the Sweet 16 this past season, and powered the Red Foxes compile a school record 29 wins. She also became the all-time assists leader at Marist with 596 and was named to the All-Met second team.

Detelj is the leading Division I scorer at Marist in soccer with 89 points (3rd overall). He was also named MAAC Tournament MVP twice in soccer and once in lacrosse, all of which led to the Red Foxes capturing the MAAC Tournament and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. He also earned MAAC Offensive Player of the Year and MAAC Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman in lacrosse.

Jordan led the nation in assists for the second straight season, totaling 286 for an 8.7 apg average. A Bob Cousy Award finalist, Jordan finished as the all-time school assists leader with 813. He was the first player in Division I history since Southern University's Avery Johnson to lead the nation in assists twice. He was recently named winner of the 74th Haggerty Award as the 2006-07 All-Met Division I men's college basketball player of the year, presented by the National Invitation Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Association .

Marist also announced that women's soccer's Lauren Dziedzic (Southington, Conn.), men's cross country/track and field's Mike Bamberger (East Northport, N.Y.) and football's Nick Salis (Nashua, N.H.) are the winners of the James Pizzani Award. The Pizzani Award is given annually to the persons whose service, dedication and loyalty to the advancement of Marist Athletics goes beyond all other and embodies the spirit of James Pizzani.

The Advantage Sport and Fitness Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year awards were presented to women's swimmer Kim Koehler (Narragansett, R.I.) and football player Shawn Casadiego (Queens, N.Y.). The award is presented annually and is given to a male and female student-athlete who empowers the principles of strength and conditioning to become a true leader in their sport.

The President's Academic Achievement Award is presented to the male and female student-athlete who attains the highest aggregate grade point average among their peers. The female recipients were mathematics major Anna Foster (Schuylerville, N.Y.) from women's crew and psychology/special education major Megan Gureck (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) from women's tennis. The men's winner was Brandon Youse (Boyertown, Pa.) who is a business administration major with a concentration in finance.

The Athletics Director Award is presented annually to the men's and women's program which boasts the highest cumulative team Grade Point Average. The recipients of the 2007 award were Phil Kelly's women's cross country team.
