Starting in September of 2019, Smarslok brings a wide range of baseball playing and coaching experience to Marist. The former three-time DIII College World Series participant was a four-year starter for Kean University, an All-Conference performer and National Rawlings Golden Glove recipient.Â
Smarslok helped lead Kean to two NJAC Tournament championships and three DIII NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional titles. He was an integral part of Kean teams that amassed 153 victories in four years.
Since finishing his playing career, Smarslok has served in assistant coach positions at Kean, Seton Hall University, Heidelberg University, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. He served as the volunteer assistant at Seton Hall in 2019 where he was the infield coach, responsible for the players' development and in-game alignment. Under Smarslok's guidance, the team saw a sizable jump in fielding percentage .958 in 2018 to .977 in 2019. He also worked with the offense on their development at the plate and their basepaths, which led to multiple players earning All-Big East selections.
Â
At Heidelberg, Smarslok was fully immersed in all aspects of coaching including the recruitment of players, offensive/defensive strategy and development, strength and conditioning, and academic monitoring.Â

Smarslok graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science from Kean University, and is currently working on completing a master's degree in Educational Leadership. He currently resides in Poughkeepsie, NY.
