Biography

Dr. Lewis J Sims, DPM, has been a board certified, practicing podiatrist in Poughkeepsie since 1973. Sims graduated from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1972 and then completed a podiatric surgical residency at New York College of Podiatric Medicine and affiliated hospitals.

Sims has served as the team podiatrist for the Marist Athletics Department for more than 30 years. He was instrumental in maintaining the health of former men's basketball player and NBA All-Star Rik Smits during his career at Marist. Sims has seen countless student-athletes during his 30 years from a majority of Marist's 23 Division I programs.

Sims joined the practice of Dr. Edward Stamm and partnered in his practice for 22 years. Upon Dr. Stamms retirement, Sims took over the practice here in Poughkeepsie, and has since continued to grow it and enjoy a distinguished career as a podiatrist the Hudson River Valley.

Sims is a fellow of The American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and The College of Certified Wound Specialists. He is also a diplomat of the American Academy of Wound Management. He served as President of the Mid Hudson Division of The New York State Podiatric Medical Association from 1977-1979, and 1981-1982. Sims also served on numerous state committees including the peer review at the clinical conference.

He currently sits on the Medical Executive Board and is Chairman of the Department of Podiatry at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. Sims also sits on the Board of Directors of the Hudson Valley Surgery Center.

Sims resides in the Town of Poughkeepsie with his wife of 41 years and enjoys spending time with his four children and four grandchildren.
