Matt Francis, a 2010 Marist graduate will serve as the Academic Advisement Fellow for the 2010-11 academic year. In this role he will monitor the tutoring program for student-athletes, as well as assist with the planning and implementation of the CHAMPS/Life Skills program. Additionally, Francis will facilitate study hall in the Student-Athlete Enhancement Center. During his time as an undergrad, Francis was a member of three honorary fraternities: Sigma Alpha Pi, the National Society of Leadership and Success, Alpha Chi, the National College Honor Society and Sigma Zeta, the National Science and Mathematics Honor Society. In addition to his academic success at Marist, Francis was a four-year member of the men's lacrosse team. He was a three-time selection to the MAAC All-Academic Team and was named Second Team Academic All-District by ESPN The Magazine as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. He was also awarded the President's Academic Achievement Award, which is given to the male and female student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average. On the field, Francis was a face-off specialist for the Red Foxes. Following his junior season, Francis ranked seventh in the nation in face-off percentage with a mark of .576, and fifth in ground balls per game with an average of 6.46 per contest. A native of Lansdale, Pa., Francis resides in Poughkeepsie.
