Josh Enters is 8th consecutive year and his 12th year total working with Marist rowers. Josh first joined the coaching staff from 2003-2006, He returned to the team in 2016, first coaching with the women’s team in 2016 and 2017 before transitioning to the men’s crew in the fall of 2017. Stratton has become an integral component in recent successes of the men’s crew and plays a vital role within the coaching staff.
Josh is a local athlete from Hyde Park, NY where he attended F.D.Roosevelt High School and was a member of the FDR Rowing Team, which he captained his senior year and also taking bronze in the boys senior 4+ at SRA Scholastic Nationals. Stratton attended USRowing Selection Camps for the USRowing Junior National Team during his high school career before attending Syracuse University as a member of their storied varsity rowing program.
At Syracuse, Stratton attended the EARC Eastern Sprints & the IRA National Championships all four years, once in the freshman 8 and then three more times in the varsity 8. His highest placing in the country came in his sophomore year in the Varsity 8 at the IRA where he placed 3rd in the petite final. He was a four-year letter winner as well as a two-time varsity captain and has continued his leadership post graduation with supporting roles in the Syracuse Alumni Rowing Association. One of Stratton’s most memorable races was against Cornell & Navy his sophomore year to win the Ten Eyck Trophy on Cornell’s home course. Stratton capped off his collegiate rowing career with a trip to the Royal Henley Regatta in England where his 4- defeated a crew from Yale before falling to Oxford Brooks University, the eventual champions of the Visitor’s Cup. Stratton graduated from Syracuse in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in Health and Exercise Science.
Josh currently serves as a board member of the Hudson River Rowing Association, is an active club and masters racer, and plays leading roles in the local Poughkeepsie rowing community
Josh Continues to be a major asset to the Marist Men’s Crew and an invaluable partner for me in training the Marist Crew. Being so connected to the local rowing scene, Josh brings our team a sense of community and history. His work ethic continues to be an enormous factor in our continued success and progression as a program.
