Biography
2013-14: MAAC Varsity Four Boat of the Year...To kick off the Spring season, he competed with the Varsity Eight at the Sacred Heart Invitational on April 7, where the crew finished third to beat both Iona and Fairfield. At the Knecht Cup on April 12, Castellani and the Second Varsity Eight Boat “B” placed fifth with a time of 6:32.06, defeating La Salle while being .2 seconds away from qualifying for the petite final. As the Red Foxes retained the President’s Cup, he competed with the Third Varsity Eight, Freshman Eight, and Novice Four. The Third Varsity Eight placed second for Marist with a time of 5:13.00, while the Freshman Eight defeated Army to take first place with a time of 5:10.00, and the Novice Four took first place for Marist with a time of 6:02.02. He was also a part of the first-place Novice Four boat that finished with a time of 7:12.40, as the Red Foxes clinched its 13th consecutive MAAC Championship title. He was also a part of the first-place Novice Four boat that finished with a time of 7:12.40. At the New York State Championships, Castellani and the Third Varsity Eight placed second for the Red Foxes with a time of 7:06.08. To close out the season, Marist placed seventh at the ECAC Championships, where he and the Third Varsity Eight placed third overall in the Grand Finals in 6:26.023.
Prior to Marist: Castellani rowed for Saratoga rowing association in Saratoga Springs N.Y...He was the first boat to receive a medal at the Head of the Charles in doubles for his team...He also took a fifth place medal the next year...Castellani placed third in the heavy weight double at youth nationals in 2012, and received a third place medal as well...He was awarded fastest erg on the team and received an award in his senior year for his performances...Castellani was also named captain of his team.
