Zachary Harkenrider was promoted to Associate AD/Business Operations in August of 2023. In this role, he oversees the budget, travel, pro shop, ticket office, and all business operations for the athletic department. He also serves as the sport administrator for Softball, Men’s & Women's Rowing, and Men’s & Women’s Swimming and Diving.
Under his guidance in this role, Marist has seen record growth across all revenue streams. By implementing targeted revenue growth strategies, ticket sales has increased over 50%, pro shop sales have more than tripled, and the Red Fox Club raffle has surpassed its fundraising record each of the past three years. These revenue streams among others have led to overall department revenue doubling in his three years in the position.
Harkenrider has led strategic modernization and partnerships across the athletics department. He served on the committee for the athletic strategic plan, negotiated a Nike-BSN partnership that tripled the school’s value, and integrated key technologies including Vivenu ticketing, Red Card, RefQuest, and Ramp which all streamlined business office operations. Additionally, he spearheaded branding and marketing projects, including a custom bus wrap, the redesign of the McCann Center exterior and lobby, the design of the Athletics Hall of Fame wall, and the deployment of a new pro shop trailer.
Harkenrider previously served as the Assistant AD for Facilities and Operations. In this role, he supervised game day operations for volleyball, baseball, softball and special events as well as assisting with football and basketball game operations. He also supervised the daily operation of the four Fitness Centers on campus.
Student recreation offerings have grown significantly during his time at Marist. Harkenrider served as a point of contact for the creation of McCormick Hall Fitness Center, renovation and expansion of the Marketplace Fitness Center, creation of the Leo Hall Fitness Center, and most recently the renovation and expansion of the 60,000-square foot McCann Center.
Beyond his day-to-day responsibilities at Marist, Harkenrider remains active in the local community. He serves as Marist's club golf coach, hosts various youth sport clinics, and is a certified boys' high school basketball and men's college basketball official.
Harkenrider graduated from SUNY Cortland in December 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management then from Marist College in 2018 with a Master’s in Business Administration and a concentration in Finance. During his time at Cortland Harkenrider worked as an assistant event manager and in the intramural department. He also worked as a camp counselor at Marist basketball’s summer camp.
A native of nearby Millbrook, Harkenrider currently resides in Poughkeepsie, New York.
