2017-18: MAAC All-Academic Team...Competed in six events at the MAAC Championships, placing fifth in both the 100 and 200- yard backstroke...Swam six events at ECAC Championships including an eighth place finish in the 200 back and a fifth place finish in the 200-yard medley relay...placed second in the 200 yard backstroke and third in the 100 backstroke against Boston College...notched a win in the 200 yard freestyle relay at the H2ounds Invitational...Came in second in the 50-yard freestyle at Fairfield. 

2016-17: MAAC All-Academic Team... Competed in eight events at the ECAC Championships, notching seven top-10 finishes... Finished seventh in the 100- yard backstroke and eighth in the 200-yard backstroke at the ECAC Championships... Ended up sixth in the 200-yard medley relay and fourth in the 400-yard medley relay at the ECAC Championships... Competed in six events at the MAAC Championship that included a third place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, a third place time in the 100-yard backstroke (50.71 seconds), and a first place finish in his 50-yard freestyle heat.

2015-16: Member of the first place 200-yard medley relay teams at Canisius (1:37.39) and vs. Fairfield (1:37.54)... Won the 200-yard backstroke in the regular season finale at Binghamton after clocking in at 1:55.45... At the MAAC Championships, finished second in the 100-yard backstroke (50.81 seconds) and third at 200 yards (1:50.64). Also competed in the 200-yard IM... Member of the third place 200- and 400-yard medley relay squads that broke school records at the MAAC Championships... Swam to a time of 59.66 seconds in the 100-meter backstroke at the ECAC Long Course Invitational to end up in sixth place... Finished 10th in the 200-yard backstroke (1:49.35) at the ECAC Championships. Competed in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard butterfly... Swam the second leg for Marist's sixth place 200-yard freestyle team and was on the 200- and 400-yard medley relay squads at the ECAC Championships.     

Prior to Marist: A Division III Academic All-American Honorable mention, McDowell swam for Keene State his freshman year. He set program records for the Owls in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke and was on the 400-yard medley relay team. McDowell was on the Honor Roll for all four years at Wilton High School, where he was also a member of the state champion 400-yard freestyle relay team that broke the school record. He finished 15thin the 200-yard backstroke at winter and summer YMCA Nationals with his club squad.
