Gilson attended Middletown High school where she was a member of the Varsity Cheerleading team for two years and a member of the women's rowing team for four years. She competed in the Head of the Charles in 2014 and the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association Championships in 2014 and 2016. Academically, Gilson received honors all four years of high school.
