Engel makes the short trip to Poughkeepsie from North Rockland, coming from North Rockland High School. She has experience swimming for Team Rockland while in high school. This past season, she was named the team captain and team MVP. Engel placed second in the 200-yard free and third in the 100-yard free at the Rockland County Championships. In addition, she was awarded Second Team All-County for the 200-yard free event. Engel was also a member of the National Honor Society, English Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Social Studies Honor Society, and Business Honor Society in high school.
