2018 Senior Year

Accolades: All American Honor, MAAC Water Polo Defensive Player of the Year, All-MAAC First Team, Co-captain.

  • Led the team with 42 assists and was fourth in the MAAC for assists
  • Second on the team with 48 steals, 81 points and a .464 shot percentage
  • Also contributed 39 goals and three field blocks

2017 Junior Year

Accolades: ACWPC All-Academic Outstanding Team, MAAC All-Academic Team, Co-Captain.
  • Played in 34 games, finishing with 23 goals, 32 assists, 55 points, 82 shots, 30 kick outs, six drawn kick outs
  • led the team with 58 steals and one field block
2016 Sophomore Year

Accolades: ACWPC All-Academic Team.
  • Contributed 13 goals, 12 assists, and three drawn kick outs
  • Second on the team in steals with 28.  
2015 Freshman Year

Accolades: MAAC Rookie of the Week (1/28).

  • Appeared in all 34 games for the Red Foxes in her first season
  • Carballo netted 17 goals and added 22 assists
  • She finished seventh on the team in total points with 39
  • She also had a shooting percentage of .354 and had seven ejections drawn
  • Carballo finished sixth on the team in steals with 29, and added three field blocks defensively
  • She had nine multi-point games, with three of those being multi-goal games
  • Carballo registered her first collegiate goal in a win over #9 Indiana on Jan. 25 at the Indiana Kick Off
  • She followed that up with a goal in each of the next two games (Feb. 1 against Brown, Feb. 7 against #12 UCSD)
  • Carballo recorded her first career multi-point game against #9 Loyola Marymount at the UCSD Triton Invite on Feb. 8 (one goal, one assist)
  • She scored her first career hat trick on Feb. 15 against Notre Dame College
  • Carballo notched a career-high in goals and points against Caltech on March 14 (four goals, three assists)
  • She scored three goals and added an assist in a win against MAAC opponent Siena on March 22
  • In the MAAC Tournament she had a career-high four assists in the semifinal win over Villanova, and added two more assists in the championship game
General

Prior to Marist: Carballo becomes a Red Fox with an abundance of experience. This past season, she was a part of the 2014 CIF Division II Championship team. Also, as a three-year member of the Women’s Junior National Team (2010-13), Carballo traveled to Puerto Rico to compete in the Central American and Caribbean Championships in 2011, where her team took first place. The following year, she traveled to Montreal to compete in the XI UANA Pan American Junior Women Water Polo (19 & U) Championships, as her team took fourth place.

Benson on Carballo: "Diana comes to us from Santa Margarita High School, the CIF Southern Section Division II champions in 2014, where she was an integral part of the team as a starter,” Benson said. “Diana has international playing experience having played with the Mexican National team in various tournaments throughout the Central American and North American Region. I expect Diana to make an immediate impact athletically, and look forward to working with her as she has a fantastic attitude and contagious work ethic.”
