Dave Hughes started his career in the Information Technology department at Marist in 2004. He was promoted to his current role of Associate Director of Client Technologies in July of 2024 and began working directly with Athletics as the IT liaison in February of 2025.
In his current role, Hughes leads a team of staff and student workers who support all end user devices, software, and technologies for faculty, staff, and students. This includes the procurement, configuration, management, and troubleshooting support for over 3,200 university owned laptops, desktops, and other devices. Hughes’s team also supports all the personal devices brought to campus by our students. Throughout his tenure, Hughes and his team have been integral to the success of numerous projects and implementations to support the changing needs of the Marist community.
In 2013, Hughes was named a Computerworld Honors Laureate for the broad deployment and management of Marist’s participation in the World Community Grid project, which utilizes idle CPU power for the greater good, from projects that seek to find cures for cancer, Zika, TB, Ebola, and Covid to finding the best materials for clean water and clean energy. In 2015, Hughes was selected as a Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce 40 under 40 Mover and Shaker Awards honoree, which is awarded to a group of 40 people younger than 40 who are recognized for their talent, professionalism, impact, and commitment to the Hudson Valley.
Hughes graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. As a student, he worked for Geneseo’s IT department assisting students with their computer issues and helping them connect to the campus network.
A lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley, Hughes currently lives in Lagrangeville with his wife, Marie, and daughters, Emily and Riley.
