Sam Higuera rejoined the Marist University Athletic Department in October 2025 as Assistant Sports Information Director.

A 2023 graduate of Marist with a B.A. in Sports Communication, Higuera went on to earn his M.A. in Integrated Marketing Communication from Marist in 2024. He began his collegiate career as a walk-on sprinter for the Red Foxes track and field team before transitioning to the sports information office, where he served as an intern and later as a Sports Information Assistant. In that role, he was the primary contact for cross country and track and field while gaining experience across multiple varsity programs.

Higuera most recently served as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at the University of New Hampshire. At UNH, he was the primary contact for women’s soccer, women’s basketball, swimming and diving, and skiing.

He covered and promoted several America East major award winners, including the conference’s Goalkeeper, Striker, and Defender of the Year in women’s soccer. All three earned All-Conference First Team honors, along with an All-Rookie Team selection and an All-ECAC First Team honoree.

In women’s basketball, Higuera managed coverage for the America East Newcomer of the Year, who also earned First Team All-Conference honors and led the league in scoring.

With the swimming and diving program, he covered and promoted the Wildcats’ 12th America East championship, the most in conference history and fifth in the last six years. The program also produced the meet’s Most Outstanding Swimmer and Rookie of the Year, Most Outstanding Diver, and Coaching Staff of the Year. Higuera additionally covered the National Invitational Champion in the 500 freestyle.

In skiing, he highlighted UNH’s NCAA National Champion in the men’s slalom, just the third individual national champion in program history and the first since 1973.

Now returning to Poughkeepsie, Higuera looks forward to continuing his career in athletic communications at his alma mater.
