Chris Vidale

BIOGRAPHY

Vidale enters his seventh season as head coach of the Marist water polo team in 2023. He has an overall record of 106-86 and has guided the Red Foxes to the MAAC Tournament in each season, including a MAAC Championship in 2021.

AT MARIST | HEAD COACH 2016-PRESENT
  • In 2022, Vidale led Marist to a 25-14 record overall and 11-4 record in the MAAC. The Red Foxes finished third in the MAAC and were defeated by #2 LIU in the MAAC Semifinal game. Vidale led Marist to a ranking of 23 in the CWPA National Polls. Vidale also coached six players to All-American Honorable Mention, Madeline Schultz to the Rookie of the Year, Myriam Lizotte to Co-Defensive Player of the Year, as well as a player on both the MAAC First and Second Team. 
  • In his fifth season at the helm of the Red Foxes in 2021, Vidale led his team to a 6-2 record and the top team in the red division. Vidale helped guide Marist to their 17th consecutive MAAC Championship appearance and advanced to their seventh consecutive MAAC Championship game appearance. The Red Foxes went on to win the MAAC Tournament, and win a game in the NCAA Tournament. 
  • Vidale coached Marist to a ranking of 21 in the 2021 Women's Varsity Polls.
  • Coached Red Foxes to overall record of 20-17 and MAAC record of 12-2 in 2019 for the #2 seed in the MAAC Championships and the team's fifth straight MAAC Championship game appearance. Led team to multiple national ranking selections including #12 in the USA Water Polo National Collegiate Rankings. 
  • Led Red Foxes to an overall record of 20-14, the program’s best since 2013 and an 11-3 MAAC record for the #2 seed in the MAAC Championships and the team’s fourth straight MAAC Championship game appearance. Also guided the team to 15 ACWPC All-Academic teams selections and the 7th highest team GPA in the NCAA.

  • Greenwich High School head coach from 2014-16. Led the team to the Connecticut state championship in 2015.
  • NYC Athletic Club head coach from 2013-17. Led team to three straight National Championships in 2013-15 and coached 10 current or former Olympians.
  • Iona College men’s assistant coach from 2009-14.
  • Iona College women’s assistant coach from 2009-16. Helped the team win three MAAC Championships in 2011-13 and coached 27 All-MAAC First and Second Team selections and 10 MAAC major award winners. 
INTERNATIONAL PLAYING EXPERIENCE
  • Won bronze medal with Trinidad and Tobago National Team at 2009 CCCAN Games
PLAYING EXPERIENCE AT IONA 2003-2007
  • 67 games played – 30 goals, 8 assists, 56 steals and 38 drawn kickouts
  • Helped Gaels to appearances in the Eastern Championship game in 2003 & 2005
