Melissa Giordano

Giordano was named to the Marist staff in September of 2012.

A four-year member of the Red Foxes from 2005 through 2009, Giordano was a leader for Marist both on and off the field. She is atop the career statistical leaderboards in batting average at .371, hits with 236, doubles with 50 and at bats with 635. She's second in runs all-time with 118 and fourth with 22 home runs. In 2009, she batted .429 with 66 hits, 19 doubles, 42 runs scored and eight home runs in possibly the greatest offseason single-season in program history. In recognition of her year, Giordano was named MAAC Player of the Year and a Louisville Slugger/NFCA First Team All-Regional honoree. A combination of her success on the diamond and in the classroom culminated in a Third Team Academic All-American nod in addition to a First Team Academic All-District accolade.

After graduating from Marist in 2009, she coached volleyball at her alma mater Stamford High School in the fall while awaiting her dual-citizenship request to clear. Once cleared, Giordano began her career playing professional softball in Italy for the Forli Fiorini club. After a year on the diamond overseas, she came back state-side to continue her education and begin work on her master's degree at Manhattanville College. In May of 2012, she graduated from Manhattanville with her master's in Physical Education.
