Camara is entering her second season on the Red Foxes coaching staff as the Director of Women's Basketball Operations. She returned to Marist after two very successful seasons as a player from 2004-06.
This is Camara's first coaching position, having recently completed a professional career abroad. After being pre-drafted into the WNBA and invited to camp with the New York Liberty in 2006, Camara played the last five seasons for four teams in Europe and Africa. She played for Club Estudiantes in Madrid during the 2007 season. She played two separate seasons for the Abidjan basketball club in Ivory Coast in 2008 and 2010. In 2009, between her stops in Ivory Coast, Camara signed with a professional team in Bosnia-Herzegovina. In 2011, her last stop before returning to Marist, was in Tunisia where she played for Club Sportif Police Circulation (CSPC).
Prior to turning pro, Camara enjoyed two very successful seasons in a Marist uniform after transferring from Division III Genesee. In just 59 games for the Red Foxes, Camara scored a total of 938 points and collected 506 rebounds, ranking her first on the Red Foxes' career records with 8.6 rebounds per game and second all-time with 15.6 points per game. In 2006, Camara helped the Red Foxes to a 23-win season, a school record at the time, and their first of six straight MAAC championships. She was named MAAC Player of the Week four times and to the All-MAAC First Teamin both of her two seasons and was Marist women's basketball's first ever MAAC Player of the Year in her senior year.
As Director of Basketball Operations, her responsibilities will include coordinating the team's travel, film exchange and film editing.
