Detelj brings six years of coaching experience at the collegiate level into his new position as an assistant coach for the Red Foxes in 2016. He played for the Wayne Fever, West Chester Flames and Long Island Rough Riders in the U.S. Premier Development League before signing with the Dayton Dutch Lions, a professional club in the United Soccer League, for two seasons.

A striker for the Red Foxes from 2003-06, Detelj holds the program’s records for goals (36) and points (89) since it began Division I play in 1981. He led Marist to its first two NCAA Tournament appearances in 2004 and 2005 and was selected Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player in both of those seasons. He earned First Team All-MAAC honors as a sophomore and junior. He picked up All-MAAC honors all four years of his career, as he was named Second Team All-MAAC and to the MAAC All-Rookie Team in 2003, and was a Second Team All-MAAC selection in 2006. In 2015 Detelj earned a spot on the MAAC 35th Anniversary Team for fall sports.

Detelj is no stranger to success in Tenney Stadium, as he was also a standout on the Red Foxes’ men’s lacrosse team. He was named MAAC Tournament MVP in 2005 when Marist made its first NCAA Tournament appearance in men's lacrosse.
