Paul Vink-Lainas enters his first season with Marist Volleyball August 2018. Vink-Lainas brings a veteran presences to the team with an abundance of experience at the club, college and national level.
Throughout his career, Vink-Lainas has had several coaching accomplishments. He has had five Iroquois Empire Regional Championships, four USA Volleyball Junior Olympic Championship Tournament appearances, four USAV Club Championship Tournament appearances and multiple collegiate players earning All-American and All-Conference Recognition.
Recently Vink-Lainas served as a volunteer assistant coach at The College of Saint Rose where he helped improved the teams passing. He also served as a court coach and evaluator for USAV Girl’s High Performance tryouts in 2018, 2008 and 2007.
From 2005-07, Vink-Lainas was the Club Director and Head Coach for the 518 Volleyball club. There he was responsible for all aspects of game management, budgeting, scheduling and recruiting. Prior to that he was the head coach at CD Select for U18.
In addition to coaching, Vink-Lainas is an accomplished official. He has been a USAV Volleyball National Referee dating back to 2002 and has officiated at the US Open Championships, the most prestigious event in the country. Vink-Lainas also has worked as a PAVO referee, working with the MAC, America East, Patriot League, NE-10 and Liberty League Conferences.
Vink-Lainas was a double graduate from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, earning a B.S. in Computer and Systems Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration. He also spent time coaching the club team at his alma mater, serving as the Co-Head coach for the men and an assistant coach for the women.
