Red Foxes Drop Rider in Women's Soccer

Lawrenceville, NJ- The Marist College women's soccer team earned a 1-0 road victory over Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Rider today in Lawrenceville, NJ. The Red Foxes remained undefeated in the MAAC at 4-0 with the win while the loss dropped host Rider to 2-2-1 in the league.

The Red Foxes (4-7) who out shot Rider (6-7-1) 13 -12 in the contest took the lead in the second half when freshman Courtney Moore (Suffield, Conn.) scored a goal of an assist from senior Courtney Gutt (Glastonbury, Conn.) in the 52nd minute.

Junior Mellanie Nai (Suffield, Conn.) gave the Red Foxes a 10 save effort in goal while her counter part Erin Wolleon stop six shots for Rider.

Marist is now tied with Loyola and Fairfield for first place in the MAAC with 12 points. The Red Fox defense has only given up one goal in the MAAC this season and has tossed shutouts in three of their four league games.

Next up for Marist is a game at 2:00 PM this Sunday, October 14th at Loyola in Baltimore, MD. The Red Foxes will be in action at home again on Friday, October 19th against Niagara at 6:00 PM.
