Poughkeepsie, NY---The Marist College men's soccer team (7-5-0, 2-3-0 MAAC) defeated Rider University (3-8-2, 3-3-0 MAAC) 1-0 in sudden death, single overtime.

Freshman Matt Flaherty (Fishkill, NY) provided the heroics, in the 103rd minute, as he took a Joe Crespo (Bolton, Conn) cross and put it in the back of the net.

Senior goalkeeper Carlos DeBrito (Union, NJ), had nine saves for the evening in his 102 minutes of play, while Rider's Brian Gill (Smithtown, NY), had 12 saves.

The Red Foxes led in shots on goal 24-11, and in corner kick opportunities 4-2.

Marist College will next take on the Saints of Siena College, Tuesday October 23rd, at 7:00 pm on Leonidoff Field, in the last home match of the season. The graduating seniors will be honored before the match begins.
