Final Stats
Bronx, NY--The Marist College men's cross country team placed third at the 2001 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships, held this afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park, in the Bronx, NY.
Marist, which finished with 69 points, was 34 points behing the co-champions, Iona College and Manhattan College. Pacing the Red Foxes effort was Kirk Dornton who crossed the line in seventh place and in a time of 26:02.97. Jamal Padgett was the second Marist runner to come across the line, finishing the five mile course in a time of 26:25.79. The top five Marist runners all crossed in the top 20 of the races and were within 45 second of each other.
Following the championship race the MAAC announced the members of the 2001 MAAC All-Academic Team, which the Red Foxes had eight athletes earn membership. Richard Ambrosio, Pat Brodfuehrer, Dorton, Jason Grady, Gilbert Hawkins, Mike Nehr, Brian Perrella and Charles Williams.
Marist returns to action on Saturday, November 10th when they travel to the NCAA Northeast Regional Meet in Boston, Mass.
