Fairfield, Conn. - The Marist College volleyball team was defeated in straight sets 3-0 by host Fairfield this evening. The Red Foxes jumped out to an early 5-2 lead in the first game, but could not hold off Fairfield and dropped the game 30-15. Marist then lost the second game 30-19 and was tied with the Stags at 12-12 in the third before losing by a final of 30-23.
Marist senior Julie Gosewisch (Severna Park, MD) recorded six kills and six digs, while sophomore Christina Brosek (Fair Lawn, NJ) also added five kills and five digs for the Red Foxes.
Fairfield received a 15 kill, 11 dig effort from Conny Paul and Laurie Brands chipped in 10 kills for Fairfield.
The Red Foxes will return to the court next Tuesday, November 6th at 7:00 PM when the travel to New Rochelle, NY to face Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Iona. Marist will then play at the McCann Center next Thursday, November 8th when they will be in action against St. Peter's at 8:00 PM
