Final Stats

Poughkeepsie, NY---The Marist College men's (3-0) and women's (2-1) swimming and diving teams defeated Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opponent Iona, this evening at the McCann Center Natatorium. The men and women were victorious with scores of 148-80, and 133-81 respectively.

In the men's competition, junior Mike Guman (Stratford, Conn) claimed victories on the boards, winning the 1-meter (266.93) and 3-meter (273.00) dives. Senior David Dobbins (Greece, NY) captured wins in the 50-yard freestyle (21.84) and in the 200 backstroke (1:59.50).

On the women's side the Red Foxes were led by double winners, sophomore Karen Finnerty (Midland Park, NJ), freshman Jennifer Gelsomino (Harrison, NY), and sophomore Amber Van De Carr (Rhinebeck, NY). Finnerty touched first in the 1,000 freestyle (11:02.62) and in the 200 backstroke (2:17.05). Gelsomino had wins in the 50 freestyle (25.26) and in the 200 butterfly (2:13.73). In the diving competition, Van De Carr went unbeaten in both the 1-meter (204.075) and 3-meter (214.73) events.

Marist will next face Fairfield University and St. Peter's College on Sunday, November 18th, at 1:00 p.m. at the McCann Center Natatorium.
