Marist Names Billy Gordon Head Coach of Swim and Dive Program

Gordon Looks to Continue Program Success

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist University Director of Athletics Tim Murray has announced the hiring of Billy Gordon as the next head coach of the Red Foxes swimming and diving program.

Gordon comes to Marist after four seasons with the Bryant Bulldogs, where he spent two seasons as an assistant coach before being promoted to Associate Head Swimming and Diving Coach/Coordinator of Recruiting and Pool Operations prior to the 2024-25 season.

In the 2024-25 season, Gordon helped lead the Bulldogs to two podium finishes at the America East Championships, with the women placing second and the men finishing third. Bryant captured seven gold medals during the championship meet.

Following a successful first season as associate head coach, Gordon helped guide the program to historic success in 2025-26, leading the women's team to its first America East Championship in program history, while the men's team maintained a third-place podium finish.

Following the 2025-26 campaign, Gordon and the Bryant staff were named America East Women's Coaching Staff of the Year.

Before his time at Bryant, Gordon spent four years as an assistant coach at La Salle University. During his tenure with the Explorers, he led both the sprint and mid-distance groups and coached athletes who broke Atlantic 10 records and posted NCAA provisional qualifying times.

Gordon competed collegiately at East Carolina University and was a Conference USA finalist in each of his four seasons.
