Women's Soccer Defeated by Loyola in MAAC Tournament Championship

Orlando, FL - The Marist College Women's soccer team was defeated by Loyola 1-0 today in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament Championship at the Wide World of Disney Sports Complex in Orlando, FL.

Loyola who out shot the Red Foxes 9-8 on the day received the lone goal on the day when Katie Elliot found the net just before the end of the first half at 44:03. The Greyhounds also held a 3-0 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

Junior goalkeeper Mellanie Nai (Suffield, Conn.) made five saves on the day for Marist and Danielle Ruppel stopped six shots in goal for Loyola.

Senior Kasey Sibrinsz (Manchester, Conn.), sophomore Laura Fil (Wappingers Falls, NY), and freshman Courtney Moore (Suffield, Conn.) were named to the All-Tournament team for the Red Foxes who reached the MAAC tournament final for the first time in school history. Marist also finished the season with a school record 10 wins and won their first regular season conference title by posting an 8-1 mark during league play. The Red Foxes ended the 2001 campaign with a 10-10 overall record.
