Worcester, Mass. - The Marist College Volleyball team suffered a 3-1 defeated at the hands of host Holy Cross today in Worcester, Mass. Holy Cross won the first two games by scores of 30-28, and 30-23 before the Red Foxes battled back to take the third game 30-23. The Crusaders outscored Marist 30-27 in the fourth game to seal the victory.

The Red Foxes received double-doubles from freshman Aline dos Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) who recorded 13 kills and 16 digs and senior Julie Gosewisch (Severna Park, MD) who added 13 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Ryann Gillen (Paola, KS) had 43 assists while junior Anne Corrigan (Rockville Centre, NY) recorded a season high 13 digs.

Holy Cross was paced by the 13 kill 17 dig effort of Katie Mulvihill and an 11 kill performance by Carissa Bennett.

The Red Foxes will have a week off from action before they return to the court next Wednesday October 3rd 7:00 P.M. when they will be playing their first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game of the year on the road against Siena. The next home game for the Marist volleyball squad is on Saturday October 20th against Niagara at 2:00 P.M.
