Poughkeepsie, NY---The Marist College men's soccer team (5-2) earned a 6-1 victory tonight over the Rams of Fordham University (1-6), on Leonidoff field.
The first goal was by freshman mid-fielder David Musinski (Hicksville, NY), converting a penalty kick, 23 minutes into the contest. Musinski would score his second goal in the 64th minute of play, assited by Anthony Tyree (Endicott, NY). Senior Brian Garafola (Bellport, NY), scored the second goal for the Red Foxes, assisted by senior Sean Murphy (Hopewell Junction, NY). Steve Murk (Clark, NJ), netted his first of two goals for the evening at 56:19, assisted by Joe Crespo (Bolton, CT). Murk's next goal would come at 73:26, helped by Patrick Safino (Simsbury, CT). The last goal for the Red Foxes would come from Safino, touching net in 84:02, assisted by Ricky Cusano (Pomona, NY).
Starting goalkeeper Carlos DeBrito (Union, NJ), had three saves on the evening in his 76 minutes of play, while Fordham's goalie, Alex Mirica (Pt. Washington, NY) had four saves. The Red Foxes led in the shots category, 16-8, while the Rams led in corner kick opportunities 5-2.
The Red Foxes will travel to Riverdale, NY, this coming Tuesday, October 2nd, at 4:00pm, to take on Manhattan College in their MAAC openor.
