NEW YORK--- The Marist College men's cross country team placed 14th out of 26
teams at the highly competitive Iona College Meet of Champions, held
Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The Red Foxes improved upon
last year's 16th place showing and also improved with 46 points on their
2000 total with a final team score of 390. Dartmouth College, which finished
25th at the 2000 NCAA Championships, won the meet with 81 points.

of five runners to success. The spread from first man to fifth man was 49
seconds. Leading the way for Marist was senior co-captain Mike Nehr (West
Babylon, NY), who finished the 5-mile course in 26:07.5. Sophomore Kirk
Dornton (Syracuse, NY), was the next Marist finisher in a Van Cortlandt Park
personal-record time of 26:10.0. Rounding out the top five were senior
co-captain Pat Driscoll (Congers, NY) in 26:35.6, sophomore Jason Grady
(Clinton Corners, NY) in 26:56.4 and junior Jamal Padgett (Syracuse, NY) in
26:56.4.
Freshmen runners took the next three spots for Marist. Geoff Decker (Delmar,
NY) finished in 27:18.5 and was followed by Lou Albano (Pompton Plains, NY)
in 27:24.3 and Matt Petersen (Staten Island, NY) in 27:38.3.
