Poughkeepsie, NY---The Marist College women's tennis team (2-0) defeated Rider University this afternoon, by a score of 6-1.

In the doubles competition, the team of Kristy Salloum and Diana Perachio defeated Rider's Kristen Zigo and Brandy Plummer, 8-6. The next win for the Red Foxes came from Amanda Doetsch and Kara Bliss, victorious over Steph Petrasko and Beth Angove, 8-2.

Marist won five out the six in the single's matches. Doetsch defeated Zigo, 6-7, 6-4, 10-7. Perachio won over Meredith Dossin, 6-1, 6-0. Salloum earned the win at number three singles, 6-3, 6-1. Jen Edwards captured the fifth singles match against Plummer, 6-4, 6-0. The last match was taken by Courtney McGeever, over Patti Pollak, 6-0, 6-0.

The Red Foxes return to the courts on Saturday, October 6, at 3:00pm, to take on the University of Rhode Island.
