Volleyball Falls 3-0 To Sacred Heart

Poughkeepsie, NY -- The Marist College volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (30-28, 30-27, 30-20) decision to visiting Sacred Heart University this evening at the James J. McCann Recreation Center.

The Red Foxes (0-5) led each of the first two games late into the match, but could not hold off the Pioneers (1-3) rallies. Marist had more kills than the visitor, 40-37, but also committed 11 more hitting errors (31-20) during the match.

Christina Brozek (Fair Lawn, NJ) had nine kills for the Red Foxes, while Julie Gosewisch (Severna Park, MD) added a team-high nine digs along with six kills on the evening. Ryann Gillen (Paolo, KS) had 34 assists and five digs on the night.

Sacred Heart was paced by the 12 digs and two kill effort of Kate Sammon. Megan Eaton had a match-high 11 kills for the Pioneers.

Marist will return to action on Friday, September 7th, when they play Yale University in the opening match of the Yale Invitational in New Haven, Conn. The Red Foxes will play Hofstra, (12:00 pm) and Hartford (4:00 pm) on the Saturday of the invitational.
