Albany, NY--- The Marist College men's soccer team (2-1) slotted another victory in the win column, with a 4-3, come-from-behind victory over the University at Albany (0-1), at Varsity Field.
Trailing 2-0 at halftime Brian Garafola (Bellport, NY.), got it started for the Red Foxes scoring Marist's first goal in the 46th minute. Chris Zitkevitz (Elmer, NJ.), put the second goal on the board almost two minutes later, assisted by Garafola. Patrick Safino (Simsbury, Conn.), put the game in the Red Foxes' favor at 63:27, shooting from 18-yards out with an assist from MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, Joe Crespo (Bolton, Conn.).
With less than five minutes remaining in the second half , Crespo scored the game winning goal, firing the ball into the lower right corner, assisted by Steve Murk (Clark, NJ.).
Starting goal tender Carlos DeBrito (Union, NJ.), led the game in saves with seven, while freshman Mike Valenti (Sicklerville, NJ.), had five for the contest. The Red Foxes were outshot by Albany 21-14, but led in corner kicks, 7-3.
The Marist College men's soccer team will next take on Binghamton University this coming Saturday, September 8th, at 3:00pm.
