Poughkeepsie, NY-The Marist College women's soccer team fell to the Fairfield Stags on North Field this afternoon. It was the Red Foxes first conference loss of the season.
Fairfield opened the scoring in the 12th minute of the first half when Meghan King kicked in the rebound from a shot by Lindsey Pulito. Pulito made the score 2-0 when she took a pass from 18 yards out from Jennifer Gavin and put it in the net in the 78th minute.
The Stags outshot the Red Foxes 13-3 in the contest. Marist goalkeeper Mellanie Nai (Suffield, CT) made five saves, while Fairfield goalkeeper, Katie Ely, made two.
Junior Laura Fil (Wappingers Falls, NY) led Marist with two shots in the conference match-up.
The Red Foxes return to action this Wednesday when they host a make-up game against conference foe Iona on Wednesday, October 16th, on Leonidoff Field.
