Women's Soccer Defeats St. Peter's 6-0

Jersey City, NJ-The Marist College women's soccer team defeated St. Peter's 6-0 Friday afternoon at Cochrane Stadium in Jersey City, NJ. The Red Foxes are now 1-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.

The Red Foxes first goal came in the 14th minute when the Peacocks kicked it into their own net. The goal snapped a nine game scoreless streak for Marist, who dominated the St. Peter's squad, scoring five more goals in the game.

Laura Fil (Wappingers Falls, NY) scored off a rebound in the 19th minute by Laura Clark (Syracuse, NY). Senior Jenny Greenbaum's (Northport, NY) goal came in the 54th minute when she put away a shot by Stacy Ryan (Kensington, Conn.) that hit off the crossbar. In the 70th and 73rd minute, sophomore Libby Ludwig (Commack, NY) scored two more goals for Marist. The first came from inside the box on a pass from Elizabeth Egan (Shelton, Conn.) on the left side. Greenbaum also got the assist on the goal. Ludwig's second was a 30 yard shot which was unassisted. With 45 seconds left in the game, Jennifer Paros (Somerset, NJ) scored her first collegiate goal, while freshmen Kathleen Murray (Pleasanton, CA) got the assist.

Senior goalkeeper Mellanie Nai (Suffield, Conn.) recorded her second shutout of the season, making two saves for Marist.

The Red Foxes return to action this Sunday, October 20th, when they travel to Riverdale, NY to take on Manhattan at 10:00 a.m.
