Women's Swimming Falls to Boston College 144-99 in Season Opener

Poughkeepsie, NY - The Marist College women's swimming and diving team lost their season opener to Boston College 144-99 on Friday night at the McCann Center Natatorium. The loss drops the Red Foxes to 0-1, while Boston College improves to 2-0.

Amber Van De Carr (Rhinebeck, NY) won both the 1-meter (232.35) and 3-meter (228.52) dives, and qualified for the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) meet in both dives as well. Missy Gifford (Glens Falls, NY) was also an ECAC qualifier in the 1-meter dive (217.57), finishing third.

Karen Finnerty (Midland Park, NJ) won the 1000 yard freestyle (10:46.09). Jennifer Meyer (Fairport, NY) was victorious in the 50 yard freestyle (25.50), as was Jennifer Gelsomino (Harrison, NY) in the 200 yard butterfly (2:16.48).

The Red Foxes return to action on Saturday, November 9th, when they host Rider at 1:00 p.m. at the McCann Center Natatorium.
