Poughkeepsie, NY - The Marist College volleyball team won their second consecutive match on Friday night at the McCann Center, defeating Hartford 3-1 (18-30, 32-30, 30-22, 30-27).
It was the first time the Red Foxes have won consecutive matches since last season, when they defeated LIU on October 24th, and Vermont on October 27th. The Red Foxes improve to 6-13 on the season, while Hartford falls to 9-7.
Hartford struck early and took the first game, 30-18, before Marist rallied to take the next three games and win the match. The second game was hard-fought, resulting in a 32-30 decision for the Red Foxes. Marist carried the momentum throughout the rest of the match on their way to the victory.
Christina Brozek (Fair Lawn, NJ) led Marist with 17 kills, for a .520 hitting percentage on the night. Aline dos Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) tallied 18 kills and eight digs for the Red Foxes. Courtney Pusko (Cheshire, CT) added 11 kills, while Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA) continued her outstanding play with 45 assists and eight digs.
Stephanie Volckers led Hartford with 24 kills and seven digs. Kelly McEathron added 20 kills for the Hawks. Danielle Scoggin recorded 42 assists on the evening.
The Red Foxes return to action on Tuesday, October 8th, as they travel to Manhattan for a conference match beginning at 6:00 p.m.
