Burlington, VT-The Marist women's soccer team fell to Vermont 2-0 today in a non-conference match-up held at Centennial Field. The Red Foxes had 11 shots on goal.
Both teams played to a shut out until the final six minutes when Vermont scored two quick goals to win the game. The winning goal came in the 84th minute when Vermont's Nikkie Hessney took a pass from Sara Jablonski and found the back of the net. The second goal was scored when Hessney passed the ball to teammate Lauren Donagher who put it in the net in the 88th minute.
Sophomore Courtney Moore (Harwihton, Conn.) led Marist with three shots, followed by Libby Ludwig (Commack, NY) (2) and freshman Kathleen Murray (Pleasanton, CA) (2). Goalkeeper, Mellanie Nai (Suffield, Conn.), made one save, while Vermont's Brooke Fairbanks made five on the day.
The Red Foxes return to action Sunday, October 6th, when they play Cornell at 1:00 p.m. in Burlington, VT.
