Orlando, FL - The Marist College volleyball team lost 3-2 (30-26, 19-30, 30-25, 24-30, 16-14) to Siena in first-round action at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament on Sunday, which is being held in Orlando, FL. The Red Foxes fall to 10-24 on the season, while Siena improves to 8-20.
Siena won the first game 30-26, before the Red Foxes bounced back with a 30-19 win in the second game. The Saints countered with a hard-fought 30-25 win to take a 2-1 lead. Marist evened the score by winning the fourth game 30-24, but Siena was able to hold off the Red Foxes by winning the final game 16-14 in what was a closely contested match.
Aline dos Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) led Marist with 24 kills and 15 digs, hitting .422 for the match. Michelle Turley (Stevensville, MI) also turned in an outstanding performance with 20 kills and eight digs. Christina Brozek (Fair Lawn, NJ) also hit the ball well with 14 kills and a .345 hitting percentage. Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA) matched her season high with 58 assists.
Lauren Weber led Siena with 21 kills and 14 digs. Jennifer Corkum and Marissa Gregg had 15 and 13 kills, respectively. Kerrie McHugh added 49 assists for the Saints.
The Red Foxes return to action when they face second-seeded Iona in the consolation bracket of the MAAC Tournament on Monday, November 18th, at 10:00 a.m.
