Volleyball Ends Season With 3-1 Loss to Iona in Consolation Round of MAAC Tournament

Orlando, FL - The Marist College volleyball team concluded the season with a 3-1 (30-19, 26-30, 30-23, 30-20) loss to Iona on Monday in the consolation round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament.

Iona (24-11) won the first game, 30-19, before the Red Foxes stormed back to take the second game 30-26. Marist was unable to overcome the Gaels, however, as they won the last two games for the victory and advanced to the fifth place match on Tuesday against Canisius.

Christina Brozek (Fair Lawn, NJ) turned in a good hitting performance, with 10 kills, five total blocks, and a hitting percentage of .296. Aline dos Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) finished the day with 14 kills. Meghan Cochrane (Placentia, CA) served up 34 assists for the Red Foxes.

Crystal Vasquez led Iona with 17 kills. Emily Mansur played well defensively with 21 digs, while Jennifer Hovan dished out 50 assists and tallied seven digs in the win.

The Red Foxes finish the season with a record of 10-25, and a 3-6 record in the MAAC. The win total was the most by a Marist volleyball team since 1998.
