Women's Soccer Is Defeated By Canisius 2-1

Buffalo, NY-The Marist College women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Canisius this afternoon at the Demske Sports Complex in the final game of the regular season.

Canisius opened the scoring in the 39th minute when Karli Sullivan took a shot 20 yards out. The Red Foxes countered in the 41st minute when junior Laura Fil (Wappingers Falls, NY) passed the ball to Jenny Greenbaum (Northport, NY) who beat goalkeeper, Christine Moran, and tying the score 1-1. In the 81st minute, Canisius' Molly Gronski scored the eventual game-winner when she took a rebound off of a Marist defender.

The Red Foxes outshot the Golden Griffins 15-6, 9-2 in the second half. Senior Jenny Shanks (Sound Beach, NY) led Marist with four shots, while Tara Savidge (New Hyde Park, NY) and Greenbaum each recorded three shots.

Marist concluded their regular season finishing 3-13-3 overall and 2-5-2 in the MAAC.
