Newark, DE--The Marist College women's basketball team fell to the University of Delaware Blue Hens 77-49 this afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center. It was the largest margin of defeat this season for the Red Foxes who are now 4-4 overall.
Marist's 49 points was the lowest this season as they shot 37.8 percent from the field and turned the ball over 31 times, a season-high. The Blue Hens were able to convert those turnovers into 28 unanswered points.
Delaware's Allison Trapp scored a season-high 27 points, while Marist's Maureen Magarity (Wappingers Falls, NY) led the Red Foxes with 18. Sophomore Laura Whitney (Warminster, PA) converted three shots from behind the arc for a season-high nine points.
Kristin Keller (Millbrook, NY) and Sarah Tift (North Kingstown, RI) fouled out with a little over eight minutes left in the game.
Erin Leger (Waterbury, Conn.) played in her first game for the Red Foxes, hitting a three-point shot for her first collegiate points.
The Red Foxes return to action Saturday, December 28th, when they host Boston University at the McCann Center for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
