Poughkeepsie, NY - The Marist College women's basketball team fell at home to Fairfield 75-68 in overtime this evening at the McCann Center. The Red Foxes led by as many as 12 points (40-28) with 15:37 left in the second half, when the Stags fought back and tied the game at 57-57 with 4:04 remaining. Sophomore Stephanie Del Preore (Livingston, NJ) who recorded her sixth career double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, put Marist up four (61-57) at 1:38 in regulation. Fairfield then scored four straight to once again tie the game and the two teams went into overtime tied at 61-61 when a desperation attempt by the Red Foxes fell short at the buzzer. The Stags hit 10-12 (.833) from the foul line and out scored Marist 14-7 in the extra period as the Red Foxes shot just 2-16 (.125) from the field.
Senior Diesa Seidel (Red Hook, NY) had a game high 21 points to go along with nine rebounds to lead Marist. The Red Foxes, who were paced by Seidel's 7-8 effort, shot 18-20 (.900) from the foul line.
Ayanna Brown recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards to head up five Fairfield players in double figures. Schrene Isodora, who scored her 1,000th career point in the contest also added 16 points and nine rebounds.
The Red Foxes (9-13, 5-8) shot .307 from the floor for the game, while Fairfield (11-11, 7-6) had a .387 shooting effort from the floor.
Marist will return to action this Sunday, February 10th at 2:00 PM against St. Peter's for their annual "Take a Kid to a Game Day" at the McCann Center. All children 18 and under will receive free admission with the purchase of an adult ticket.
