Fairfield, Conn.---The Marist College women's tennis team (10-3, 6-1 MAAC) defeated Fairfield University, 4-3, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) contest this afternoon, in Fairfield, CT. The Red Foxes improved to 10-3 overall and 6-1 in MAAC play.
In singles play Amanda Doetsch (Freehold, NJ) topped Diana Webb at number two singles, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6). At number five singles Jennifer Edwards (Baldwinsville, NY) defeated Ann Mullowney, 6-3, 6-3. Kara Bliss (Burnt Hills, NY) won easily at number six singles over Kristy Golden, 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles action, the number one doubles duo of Doetsch and Diana Perachio (Newtown, CT) defeated Kelly DiMario and Krissy Fitzpatrick, 8-6. The number three doubles team of Courtney McGeever (Wickliffe, OH) and Edwards earned the win against Mullowney and Golden, 8-4.
The Red Foxes return to the courts on Thursday, April 11th, when they travel to Albany, NY, in a non-conference match against the University of Albany.
