Fishkill, NY - Tim Allen's (Wappingers Falls, NY) solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the tenth sent Marist College to a 6-5 win over LeMoyne College today in the semi final round of the 2002 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, NY.

The Red Foxes (38-12) took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after LeMoyne (30-16) opened the scoring with a run in the second. Anthony Bocchino (Brooklyn, NY) hit a triple and scored on a pop up by Mike Sidoti (Staten Island, NY). Sidoti then crossed the plate later in the inning on a sacrifice fly by John McGorty (W. Sayville, NY).

The Dolphins tied the game at 2-2 with a run in the fifth before scoring three times in the seventh to move in front 5-2.

Marist then rallied in the bottom of the ninth and tied the game at 5-5 after RBI singles from McGorty, Keith Brachold (Atteboro, MA), and Jimmy Willis (Ft. Mongomery, NJ). The Red Foxes had a chance to earn the victory in the frame, but a strikeout with the bases loaded ended their threat.

Chuck Bechtel (Royersford, PA) allowed four runs, three earned in the first six innings for Marist before giving way to Brad Cook (Binghamton, NY) with a runner on in the seventh. Cook then worked three innings, surrendering one run on two hits. Chris Homer (Jamesville, NY) pitched a perfect tenth to pick up his first collegiate win for the Red Foxes and improve to 1-1 on the year.

Chad Simore (2-2) who pitched the tenth inning was on the losing end for LeMoyne. Brian Mattoon gave up four runs in the first eight innings for the Dolphins.

The Red Foxes will move on to face the winner of tonight's 7:00 PM game featuring LeMoyne and Rider. Tomorrow's game will be at 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM if necessary.
